Goal of the programme

Dental College Azamgarh, the only dental college in North India region, is an institute imparting quality dental and medical education and research & development. The institute focuses and co-ordinates the prime aim of skill building and personality development of the students. Seminars, conferences, debates, sports, dramatics etc. are the regular happenings of the institute besides the curricular studies which, surely, is its pivotal strength.

Recognised by Dental Council of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India vide its letter no. V-12017/48/2000-PMS/DE Dated 9th Nov. 2004 and is affiliated to Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University Jaunpur (U.P.)

B.D.S. stands for Bachelor of Dental Surgery. It is an Undergraduate Academic Degree course which deals with the field of Dentistry. The duration of Bachelor of Dental Surgery course is 4+1 years of study with internship and without internship, Dental College Of Azamgarh offers the course in the mentioned formats. The course was available with internship before 2007. However, in 2007, the Dental Council of India restructured the course and made it a 5 Year course without Internship. This was done because as per DCI, students or colleges didn't take internship seriously and academicians also felt that internship was not serving its purpose. But, this regulation though under affect, is under consideration. To diagnose trainees will have to conduct physical examination which will expose one to obnoxious smell from both medicine and patient's mouth. So one should be mentally prepared to keep this fact in mind before opting for this course. Surgery requires patience and a calm mind.

OBJECTIVES

  • To comprehend the comprehensive structure of human body, especially head and neck.

  • To correlate the structures with the function of each organ.

  • To identify the interrelationship of structures with respect to function.

  • To be acquainted with the importance of anatomical structures and their application in Dentistry.

  • To be able to understand positions of various organs radiographically.

  • To be able to identify each structure to encounter it properly during Dental practice.

  • To understand the normal microscopic anatomy, so that any abnormality could be depicted in clinical practice.

  • To understand the tissue- organization in the body.
